Which Extension Class Is Right For Me?

Are you trying to decide which sew in hair extension class would be best for you?

Did you know that many years back, I was so excited to learn a sew in method. I didn’t even ask OR KNOW there was a difference. I went with the hopes of learning the method that was taking California + the Midwest by storm! Little to my knowledge, there was a HUGE difference and I didn’t even find out until DAY 2 at the END of class. Ugh, I was frustrated. And to add to that frustration, I was taught using only a 4” piece of weft and sent on my way. I had four clients who already pre-ordered their hair, eager for an installation upon my return. I left with still little knowledge. I had to use my memory and my YouTube skills to figure the rest out. If this sounds like you then definitely keep reading.

When I opened my studio, Extension Arts. I made it my mission to teach the things I wasn’t taught in class. To create a community where it’s OK to ask for help. Even long after the class is over. My teaching approach is hands on and we go over the good, the bad, the ugly and the technical. I teach from experience, unaffiliated to any brands.

Classes are catered to each student in the same position or one that maybe took an extension class years ago and wants to sharpen their skills. It’s for the student who has never touched a hair extension in their life or the student who bought into an online course and can’t quite grasp it IRL. These classes are all accepting and all encompassing with one goal in mind.

providing you with a complete knowledge and understanding of the method, and a boost of confidence.

Now the question I get all the time is...

𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞?  𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐝?

My answer - BOTH.

But, it really depends on your clientele or target market. For instance the Hand-Tied Class would be best for your clientele if…

  • If you are a blonde specialist.

  • Have mostly normal- fine haired clients.

  • Have clients who are aging and worried about hair loss.

  • Or have clients who often wear their hair up due to work or an active lifestyle.

  • Or have clients who prefer a “natural look”

The Machine Weft Class would be ideal if your current clientele is…

  • looking for maximum coverage.

  • These are great if your clientele has normal to coarse hair

  • Also great for clients with ethnic hair. Or textured hair (aka multiple curl patterns)

  • This is also great for first-time clients as it easily maintained.

  • Pricing for Machine Weft tends to be cheaper than hand tied. So your pricing structure can be more flexible.

  • I like to refer to Machine Wefts as a more “clip in” heavy look. While hand tied extensions are more lightweight and natural moving.

It’s clear that each play a significant role when used alone. These two weft options can also be combined and used together for detailed work. Regardless, each are super important. Especially if your end goal is to be “extension specialist”.

If you’re still torn? Not a problem. Sign up for both classes and get a FREE ticket to any of our upcoming social media marketing + branding workshops.
