From Amelia: Pair Holiday Hair

Happy December Everyone!

I can’t believe how quickly this year as gone by. I love the holidays because it gives me time to sit back and reflect on all the wonderful lessons I took away from the year and how I can apply myself for the next year to come.

A little fun fact about myself is that I am super into pop culture! Whether that is fashion, music, hair, make up, you name it!

I’ve had hair extensions for about a year now so I’ve some time practicing some fun hair styles. I have tried the Hailey Bieber slicked bun. I have tried the Kim Kardashian slicked ponytail. I have tried theJ-Lo Curtain Bang Blow Out. I have tried the Kylie Jenner tight braid, I’ve done it all!

With that being said, I would love to share some of my favorite styles that would be perfect for the holidays! These are great for Christmas dinner with your loved ones, a Friendsgiving, etc.

I am going to start with my all-time favorite:

1. The Kim Kardashian Pony

The trick to perfecting the slicked back pony is to brush your hair in the same angle of your cheekbones. By following the angle of your cheekbones with your brush, you allow your face to create a natural contour. It also gives your face a natural lift.

My favorite tools to use are a thin styling comb to pull back all the hair, followed by a soft boar bristle comb. This creates the beautiful lines in your hair. It can be tricky with extensions, but practice makes perfect! Just take small pieces of hair to cover the beads. They may want to stick out but are fairly easy to cover. Follow that up by putting Gel and Hair Spray into the top part of the ponytail, then you are done!

I personally like to take a flat iron and straighten out the hair that makes up the actual ponytail. I feel like it creates a much cleaner and cohesive look to the hair style.

My second favorite is the:

2. Hailey Bieber Low Bun

This bun is Hailey’s signature look; she even wore it to her wedding! I can’t blame her, with her features, I would be wearing this hair style 24/7!

I love wearing this hair style with a pair of chunky gold hoops, a leather blazer, leather pants, and some cool sneakers. However, you could style this hair style any way you prefer! This hair style adds a very “model off-duty” to any outfit you pair it with.

Let’s figure out how to style your hair like this! P.S. Hailey has extensions in this! I start with a thin plastic styling comb (you can find them on amazon), to part my hair down the middle. Once you have your desired part, I flatten my hair down with the hair gel. Once I put in the hair gel, I take my soft boar bristle styling comb and brush down the hairs away from my face. I find that brushing away helps shape the face better. From there, you tie your hair into a ponytail. You take a second elastic, and then tie that ponytail into a bun. This helps keeps the bun tight and condensed.

The best way to hide your extensions if you have a weft is to continue gelling your hair over the beads until you can no longer see them. However, don’t stress!! Regina always uses colored beads that blend in with your extensions, so they are not noticeable.

Last but certainly not least.

3. The J-Lo Curtain Bang Blow Out

First off can we please acknowledge the fact how she hasn’t aged?! I mean, come on! Her skin and hair are glowing!!

This hair style is so sexy and flirty. Chris Appleton gave her a similar look when she performed at the super bowl.

The secret to this hair style is to start with square 1. You want to start with wet, clean hair. Unlike the other hair styles, this one will look and hold much better with a freshly washed head of hair.

I wore this hair style when I went out to New York City. I loved it. It adds such great volume and thickness in your hair.

How to do this: First, put on your heat protectant!! That should always be your first step before you touch any hot tools. Next, take your thick styling hairbrush and blow out your hair while it is in the thick styling hairbrush (similar to what hairdressers when they are blowing your hair out.) By doing this, your hair will become volumized. You then want to take the two halves of the front of your hair and part it down the middle. These will be your curtain bangs. You want to curl them away from your face allowing them to shape it. If you curl too close, they will hide your face.

There are so many videos online as well that show a step-by-step for this intricate hair style. P.S. J-Lo is wearing extensions in this as well.

These are my favorite holiday looks! If you guys use any of these looks, tag @extensionarts and @ameliaschmarzo in your pictures. We can’t wait to see all your beautiful faces during the holidays!

With Love,

Amelia Schmarzo
